GeekBeat TV Reviews the New LiftMaster 8500 Jackshaft Garage Door Opener

LiftMaster recently introduced the updated version of their Jackshaft (Direct Drive) Opener with new technology that is now making its way across their entire lineup of garage door openers. The previous model was the LiftMaster 3800 which has now been replaced with the LiftMaster 8500.

A jackshaft or "direct drive" garage door opener mounts to your garage door in a different way. While so many people are used to seeing a garage door opener hanging from the ceiling in their garage, the LiftMaster 8500 mounts to the side of your garage door on the shaft that your springs and cables are attached to.

These new openers are so small and quiet, they are often overlooked in the garage. They feature a DC motor with soft start and stop, MyQ technology which allows control from your smartphone, and a battery backup system that is useful if you live in an area that has frequent storms or power outages. It's no wonder more and more homeowners are making the change to this new type of garage door opener.
